“Saklan-Saklaniyorsun-Saklandin” is a collaboration with the subject. I approached strangers in different parts of Turkey with a single question, “If you have to hide at this moment, where would you hide?” I wanted to document their initial response without any intervention on my part.

The subject of hiding elicits different meanings. For some, it evoked the political or economic situation occurring in Turkey, where if they needed to get cover where would they go; for others, it was a playful exercise derived from childhood, the thrilling game of practising autonomy; the joy of blending in unnoticed and the panic of not being found. Or simply to hide from the judgement of others.

Blurring the line between reality and non-reality has always been my way of communicating with the world around me.
